Our Staff
Based in Cairns, Queensland, as the sole employee of Critical Coaching, I am 'the staff' however without the amazing support and encouragement of my wife Marnie, none of this would happen, so thank you for everything.
With a background as both a diagnostic radiographer and paramedic, I bring a unique and practical perspective to clinical education—ensuring it remains relevant, evidence-based, and aligned with real-world practice. I have extensive experience in clinical education and a paramedic and radiographer, and pride myself on making education enjoyable and enlightening, ensuring all learners feel welcome and empowered.

I founded Critical Coaching in 2021 after reading a Coroner’s report into the tragic death of a patient following a contrast-induced anaphylactic reaction. The case prompted deep reflection on my own preparedness as a radiographer to respond to such emergencies.
Working in partnership with the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT) I developed targeted education to help MRPs confidently recognise and manage medical emergencies—particularly anaphylaxis. Drawing on my paramedic training and frontline experience, I set the goal of improving patient safety through the education and upskilling of Medical Radiation Practitioners (MRPs).
My radiography was across both the UK and Australia, working in a variety of public and private healthcare settings. In 2007, I transitioned into paramedicine—a profession I continue to practice today and feel truly privileged to be part of.
My 'day job' is as Manager Clinical Education for the Queensland Ambulance Service in the Far Northern Region, but spend most of my free time working on Critical Coaching. I am registered with AHPRA as a Paramedic and as a Non-Practicing Medical Radiation Practitioner. - Scott, May 2025
