Training built around your profession

Ready for when it matters

Critical Coaching was founded in 2021 in the wake of a Coroner’s report into the tragic loss of a patient due to contrast induced anaphylaxis. The findings highlighted a significant gap in training and a clear need for greater preparedness within the medical imaging profession when responding to clinical emergencies.

In response, Critical Coaching created education that is practical, evidence based, and designed specifically for the unique clinical responsibilities of Medical Radiation Practitioners. Our mission is simple. We aim to strengthen patient safety by equipping MRPs with the knowledge, confidence, and capability to act early and effectively when a patient begins to deteriorate.

The Critical Coaching Story

Scott Cooper is the founder and director of Critical Coaching, bringing together experience as a former diagnostic radiographer and a practising Advanced Care Paramedic. He is registered with AHPRA as both a Paramedic and a Non Practising Medical Radiation Practitioner. With more than 30 years across these disciplines, he offers a unique and valuable perspective on patient care and clinical education.

Scott’s wife works as a radiographer / sonographer and is also a clinical educator. He is a proud father of two amazing adult daughters and lives in Cairns (although for most of the year he wishes he were in Tasmania where he does not feel like he is melting). Scott currently works as the Manager of Clinical Education for a state ambulance service in the Far Northern Region.
